Molybdenum base alloy containing tungsten 25% and 30%, with excellent corrosion protection against molten zinc, can be used to make molten zinc pump and electrolytic zinc electrode and filter molten zinc.

The highest hardness value of the alloy at room temperature is between 90% and 100% tungsten, and its vickers hardness value is up to 3530 ~ 3860MPa, which is more than twice as high as that of pure molybdenum. The highest high temperature hardness value of the alloy is between 70% and 85% tungsten content.


Molybdenum-tungsten alloys can be used at higher temperatures than molybdenum or molybdenum alloys. For example, when molybdenum tungsten alloy is used as electrode, orifice and thimble in wave furnace of producing high melting point refractory ceramic fiber, its service life is much longer than that of pure molybdenum products. Mo - 30W than the pure molybdenum metal has a higher resistance to zinc solution corrosion performance, more used in zinc solution temperature measurement tube, zinc liquid pump rotor and zinc smelting furnace corrosion resistance parts. Because of its high melting point, good ablative resistance and flame erosion resistance to solid particles, molybdenum-tungsten alloy can also be used in solid rocket engine parts such as gas rudder and guard plate.
