Lithium Aluminium Hydride is a compound Hydride with the formula LiAlH4. Lithium aluminum hydride, abbreviated LAH, is a very important reductant in organic synthesis, especially for the reduction of esters, carboxylic acids, and amides. Pure lithium aluminum hydride is a white crystalline solid that is relatively stable below 120°C and in dry air, but explodes when exposed to water.
